Dooars are the alluvial lowland situated in the eastern and northeaster India. It is in the south of outer foothill of Himalaya and north of Brahmaputra river basin. Dooars area in Assam lie in the district Kokrajhar, Chirang and part of Baksa. Dooars means ‘doors’ in Assamese language. This area is divided into two division called Eastern dooars and Western dooars. Eastern dooars also called Assam dooars and Western dooars is called Bengal dooars.  Dooars area have some similarities with the Terai region in northern India and southern Nepal.
