The Education Department, Government of Assam has decided to conduct the Assam Special 6th Schedule TET exam for the eligible candidates as per the official notification. The notification regarding the Assam TET exam has been issued by the State Level Empowered Committee, TET. The candidates who are eligible and willing to work as a teacher need to qualify the Assam TET exam to participate in the upcoming TET recruitment. Assam TET Exam, 2023 will be conducted for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary Schools. One of the most awaited Assam Special TET Exam 2023 processes is now underway and eligible candidates will be able to submit their application online. Assam TET Exam Details :-

Name of Exam: Special 6th Schedule Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2023

Name of Authority: State Level Empowered Committee, TET

Date of Exam: 30th April 2023

Duration of Exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes for each Paper. An additional 20 minutes time (per hour) will be there for visually impaired candidates.

No of Paper: Two Papers.

Paper-I: Lower Primary (LP)

Paper-II: Upper Primary (UP)

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

No of Questions: 150 MCQs for each Paper.

Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in Assam TET Exam, 2021.

Medium of Exam: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi and English

Validity of TET Certificate: This TET Exam Certificate will be valid for a lifetime.

Qualifying Mark: A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ ST (Plain)/ OBC/MOBC/ PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5%. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55%.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam Special TET Exam

1.Residentship: The candidate must be a permanent resident in the 6th Schedule area of Assam.

2.Age Relaxation

  1. Relaxation up to 5 % in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation shall be applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ MOBC/PWD(PH) to appear in TET (The degree of handicap in case of PH candidates should be minimum 40% and to be certified by the competent authority) both for Paper-I (LP Level) and Paper-II (UP Level).
  2. For Paper-I (LP Level) relaxation up to 5% in HSSLC marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 2-Year D.El.Ed before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 2-Year D.El.Ed subsequently.
  3. For Paper-II (UP Level) relaxation up to 5% in Graduation marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 1-Year B.Ed. subsequently.

3.Educational Qualification: The educational qualification criteria for Lower Primary and Upper Primary Assam TET exam requires different qualifications as per post and we have pen down that information in the below sections.

Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)

Criteria 1: To be eligible for the Assam TET exam, candidates must fulfil any one of the following eligibility criteria.

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) obtained from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in class I to V, provided the person so appointed as teacher will have to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.

Criteria 2: However, a candidate who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification

** Remark: Candidate admitted into 2-year D.El.Ed program before 31st August 2009, please refer to Clause B under subheading Relaxation.

Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)

Criteria 1: To be eligible for the Assam TET exam candidates must fulfil any one of the following eligibility criteria.

  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post Graduation and B.Ed.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. Or B.A.Ed/ B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

** Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those in cumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to the 29th July, 2011.

Criteria 2: However, a person who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year Examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. Application Fee of Assam TET Exam

To complete the application process, candidates have to pay the following mentioned amount as the application fee. Payment will be received through an online payment gateway and candidates will be able to make payments through their Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI etc.

Content Structure of Assam TET Exam

This section discusses the content structure of the TET exam to be held on 30th April 2023. Candidates who have submitted their application for this exam have to appear in the TET exam as per the given below structure. Note that the structure is different for Lower and Upper Primary so you are advised to check carefully.

For Paper 1 (Lower Primary)

The structure of Paper 1 is given below.

Language I: This section will consist of Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, Karbi, Hmar and Alternative English languages ​​and from which candidates have to select any one language.

Subject Teacher Details: Candidates willing to teach specific subject as a teacher have to select their subjects in Assam TET as mentioned below.

Assam TET Exam Admit Card Details

As per the official notification, the Assam Special 6th Schedule Teacher’s Eligibility Test, 2023 will be conducted on 30th April 2023 in the mentioned 6 districts. Along with the official notification, the State Level Empowered Committee of TET has confirmed that the admit cards for the TET exam will be issued on 15th April 2023 through the online portal and the candidates who have submitted the application will be able to download their admit cards from the same day. But, the committee also indicated that the exam date is tentative and may be postponed if any problem occurs.
