Analysis: Tele Law on Wheels Campaign

The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, launched at ‘Tele Law on Wheels’ Campaign on 8th November 2021, and it will continue till 14th November. In this Campaign, a series of activities are being undertaken to empower people through pre-litigation advice for rightfully claiming their entitlements and for timely redressal of their difficulties. Tele Law on Wheels campaign is a part of the country-wide celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’

Objectives of Tele Law on Wheels Campaign

This week-long campaign will ensure justice for all by digital legal empowerment of the needy people.

This is a special Login week throughout the country for encouraging those in need to seek legal advice and consultation through tele-and video conferencing facilities by urging them to visit their nearest Common Service Centers(CSCs) offering Tele-Law services. This CSCs have been branded as Kanooni Salah Sahahyak Kendra for this purpose.

How the Campaign Tele Law on Wheels will continue?

Special Mobile vans displaying the Campaign’s message will be rolled out. These vans would travel a distance of 30-40 kilometers daily, distribute Information Leaflets on Tele-Law, broadcast films, and Radio jingle about the Tele-Law Services, etc.

Simultaneously SMS in Hindi and English would be pushed sensitizing villagers to register their cases or matters under Tele-Law for legal advice, consultation, and information.

Tele Law on Wheels – Mobile App

As a part of the Tele Law on Wheels Campaign, Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju launched the Citizen’s Tele-Law Mobile App on 13th November 2021. Minister of State for Law and Justice Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel was also present on occasion. The event was part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

Tele-Law: Reaching the Unreached e-interface platform was launched in 2017 by the Department of Justice to strengthen the pre-litigation mechanism in India. This is operational in 51,434 Common Service Centres across 50,000 Gram Panchayats in 633 districts Tele-Law leverages technology (viz. tele-video conferencing facilities) to connect the beneficiary with the Panel Lawyer seek legal advice and consultation for early redressal of their grievance.

The newly launched Citizens’ Tele-Law Mobile App intends to widen access to increased legal information and empower the masses. It is to identify the problem of people and choose from the appropriate forum of dispute redressal to claim their entitlements and rights by connecting the beneficiary directly to the Panel Lawyer or with the assistance of Para Legal Volunteers, Village Level entrepreneurs, in case of a beneficiary who are unable to read or write. The consultation is available free of cost to those entitled to free legal aid under Section 12 of Legal Service Authority, whereas Others could avail at Rs 30/ per consultation.
