Shripati Khanchanale, a famous wrestler of his time and who won the title of Hind Kesari in 1959, died on Monday in a private hospital in Kolhapur. He was 86 years old. Khanchanale’s son Rohit said that my father died on Monday morning due to age related problems. He was honored with the Shiv Chhatrapati Award by the Government of Maharashtra. Khanchanale won the Hind Kesari title by defeating Rustom Punjab Batta Singh in 1959 in New Delhi. This title is considered highly prestigious in Indian wrestling.
